Mount Prospect Dist. 57 moving forward with strike

The teachers at Mount Prospect elementary District 57 are moving forward with a strike.

School Empty ClassroomThe union voted to declare intent to strike at a meeting Thursday night, which means the strike could happen as soon as 10days from now.

The teachers union and the school board have been negotiating salary, teacher evaluations and lay-offs for the past year.

Union officials say they hope to reach an agreement quickly so a strike can be avoided.

There has never been a strike in that district.
