A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Saturday 12AM until 6PM.

We’re in for a relatively quiet, but cold Friday.  Under cloudy skies we can expect highs near 20 degrees with the slight chance of passing flurries during the afternoon.

Through the evening and into the overnight the chance for snow will increase.  By daybreak Saturday it’s possible for 1-2 inches of snow to be on the ground with more on the way.

During the morning hours Saturday there is the potential for snowfall to ramp up and we could see snowfall rates around 1 inch per hour or slightly more.  An additional 3-5 inches of snow is possible during the day with totals between 4-8 inches by the time the storm moves out Saturday evening.

In addition to the snow, areas south of line from Pontiac to Kankakee could see a wintry mix with the potential for some light ice accumulations.

Our temperatures will drop considerably behind the winter storm.  Mostly sunny skies are expected Sunday, but highs will probably only reach the mid-teens.
