Commuting in the cold weather hasn’t been easy.

AAA (Triple A) has been swapped with calls most of them for dead batteries. The wait for members is around five hours for a jump.

Metra is also having some issues on one of its lines, impacting about 5,800 riders.  A freight train derailed overnight on North Central Line near Mundelein.  The good news is that should be cleared up for Wednesday morning.

No one is sure what caused the train to derail but the cold has certainly made it difficult to fix.  Metra overall says things have been going much smoother this time around compared to the last cold spell.

Metra says that’s partially because this cold snap wasn’t nearly as bad or come with as much snow as last time.
