Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market, which owns three grocery stores in the northwest suburbs, has acquired four former Dominick’s locations, the company announced Monday.

The stores, located in Northbrook, Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, and Elk Grove Village, were taken over on January 25, with plans to renovate and reopen them under their new banner beginning this spring.

The Northbrook and Arlington Heights stores are scheduled to reopen by late March or early April, with the Elk Grove location opening soon after that, according to the company. The Des Plaines store is expected to open by the end of the year and will supplant the existing location in that suburb.

Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Supermarkets, the parent company of Mariano’s, acquired 11 Dominick’s stores for $36 million, with plans to begin reopening them in February. Jewel bought four locations, reopening them under their own banner earlier this month.

I wish some store would move into the old Dominick's ..corner Meacham and Higgins..maybe too close to Whole Foods and Marinos not too far away..

When I was a kid , your parents either shopped Dominicks or Jewel.

Now the grocery retail market is highly competitive with Whole Foods. Trader Joes', Mariano ,Cuputo Butera, Familiar, H Mart.

Big box Miejers, Super Walmart. Super Target. And there's the shoppers clubs of Sams and Costco.

Its very competitive out there. So many choices.
