The trial of a man accused of killing his young daughter went to the jury Friday.

Richard Lyons is charged with beating and killing his nine-year-old daughter, Mya, in 2008.

A blood splatter expert testified that the blood pattern found on Richard Lyons’ shoes shows that he stabbed the girl.

The expert says he believes Mya was beaten at her father’s home and then stabbed to death inside her father’s van.

Prosecutors argue Lyons dumped his daughter’s body a short distance from the home to make it appear as though someone else had killed her.

The defense rested its case without calling any witnesses.

They argue there’s no motive, witness, or evidence that proves Lyons is guilty.
