Police suspend search for woman who fell into Chicago River

The Chicago Police Marine Unit suspended its search for a woman who fell into the icy Chicago River and is presumed dead.

Lauren Li, 23, Ken Hoang, and another man fell into the river early Monday morning when Hoang dropped his cell phone onto the ice, and tried to get it.

Police pulled both men from the water. Hoang was later pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The second man is in fair condition at Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

Li was a senior and honor student at the University of Minnesota.
