Jury selection is scheduled to begin today in the murder trial of a South Side man accused of brutally killing his own daughter.
Mya Lyons, 9, was found stabbed to death in an alley behind her father’s home in July 2008.
Cook County prosecutors say she was beaten and strangled before she died.
Her father, Richard Lyons, found her body and drove her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Richard Lyons was charged with the murder nearly two years later.
Prosecutors say blood evidence in his van led to his arrest.
Lyons maintains his innocence.
