Boy hospitalized after being bit by parrot

A 6-year-old boy is in good condition after being bitten by his grandmother’s parrot this afternoon in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, police said.

It happened at 12:49 p.m. in the 1700 block of West 19th Street, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.

The child was taken to a hospital, where he is in good condition, Sullivan said.

A representative from the Chicago Fire Department said the child was not transported by a department ambulance.
