Fire damages building in Little Village, 10 hurt

An extra alarm fire broke out in a two story building in the Little Village neighborhood.

It happened just before 4:40 a.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of South Kedzie.

The fire started in the rear portion of the house.

Firefighters say the Chicago Police Bomb and Arson Unit will take over the case.

At least 30 people were displaced. 10 people, including 4 children, had to be taken to the hospital for minor injuries

Injuries are reportedly varied, but none are considered life threatening.

The residents displaced were able to go to Fire Station no. 109, located right across the street.

The station has a warming shelter.
