Comcast worker shot during suspected robbery

A Comcast cable installer is in critical condition this morning after two men robbed and shot him on the city’s South Side.

The 45-year-old Xfinity technician, sent to repair the wireless internet at a building near 76th and Essex ended up the victim of an armed robbery and shooting.

The property manager was meeting the victim just before 1 p.m. Wednesday when he walked into crime unfolding.

The property manager says he stood frozen for a few seconds in shock, until one of the men looked his way and made a threat.

“He told me to walk away, he pointed the gun at me.  I heard a gun shot,” he said.

That one shot hit the technician in the stomach.  The robbers escaped on foot. Police are searching the area looking for leads.

The worker is in critical condition at the hospital.
