Suspect sought in carjackings, crash that killed boy

Police and other law enforcement officials are searching for a suspect wanted in the car chase the resulted in the death of a Chicago boy.

Police say 34-year-old Rockie Douglas is wanted in a series of carjackings which lead to the car chase that killed 11-year-old Donovan Turnage.

Police say Douglas forced a driver out of the car around 11 a.m. on Friday in the 800 block of W. Irving Park Rd.  The following day, police attempted to curb Douglas in the stolen car.  Douglas fled and crashed into a car in which Donovan was a passenger.  Donovan’s father was also injured in that crash.

After crashing, police say Douglas hijacked another vehicle and fled.  The vehicle broke down a short time later. Douglas then stole the car of a motorist who came to help him.

Douglas was last seen in this vehicle, a light blue, 4-door 2007 Honda Accord with Illinois license plate X144777, fleeing westbound on Interstate 88.

He is described as white,  6’03”, 275 lbs.  His last listed address is in the 12700 blk. of Major Ave. in Beach Park, Il.

Police are asking that anyone having any information about these incidents or the offender contact police, either by calling 911 or contacting Area Central Detectives at 312-747-8380 or Illinois State Police at 630-241-6800.
