2 women rescued from icy retention pond in Bolingbrook

Two people were taken to the hospital after a car plunged into a retention pond in Bolingbrook.

The Bolingbrook Fire Dept says the vehicle went into the water at Lindsay Rd and Avalon Rd around 6:30 p.m.

A bystander went into the water and attempted to rescue the driver, officials say.

Fire dept divers pulled both the bystander and the driver out of the water.

They are stable at the hospital
