How To: Prepare a Healthy Party Appetizer

It’s that time of the year: family, friends and FOOD. While it may be tempting to eat your way through the holidays, it could be refreshing to have a New Year’s resolution that isn’t simply “lose weight.”

We’re not delusional enough to think you’re going to pass on every party tray that comes your way (we emphasize health, not cruelty) but there are ways to revamp your favorite recipes. We teamed up with registered dietitian Dawn Jackson Blatner for a good ol’ fashioned recipe rehab. These healthy chicken wings have 70 fewer calories and half the fat as traditional wings. Time to chow down!


Healthy Chicken Wings


Skinless chicken drumsticks

3 mangos

1 tbsp Thai chili sauce

1 tbsp canola oil

1 tbsp low-sodium Worcestershire sauce

4 tbsp honey

Pinch crushed red pepper

Green onions to taste



Add mangos and five following ingredients (through crushed red pepper) to food processor. Blend until smooth. Marinate chicken drumsticks half an hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Garnish with green onion and enjoy!
