Personal space protector: ‘The Spike Away’ vest

A designer in Singapore, who was fed up with the pushing and shoving on the subway, created a fashion accessory to protect her personal space.

It’s called the “Spike Away” vest. The vest is made of strips of spiky, flexible plastic material found in the gardening section of a hardware store. The strips are normally used to keep birds and cats away from plants.

Coming in contact with the spikes of the vest would not cause much harm. The effect is almost entirely visual.
