Police question ‘person of interest’ in shooting of Harvey officer

A man is being questioned in the Sunday shooting of a Harvey police officer who was responding to a robbery at a business in the south suburb, officials said.

The Harvey officer was among a unit who responded to a robbery Sunday evening in the 159th block of South Wood.

When police arrived, the suspected started firing at the first officer on the scene.

The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital. His condition has since stabilized.
