Person struck by train near Buffalo Grove Metra station

Metra 1A person was struck and killed by a Metra train Friday morning, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The body was found lying on the tracks south of Deerfield Parkway near the Metra train station located in Buffalo Grove.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office. They have yet to release the identity of the victim.

At about 7:35 a.m., someone aboard inbound Train No. 110 saw the body on the opposite side of the tracks, according to a Metra spokeswoman.

The crash remains under investigation.
