Having a baby might be the most stressful thing a woman can do – now try doing it with a tornado bearing down on you.
That’s the situation Theresa Vancil found herself in at Pekin Hospital during Sunday’s severe storms.
Vancil’s phone got a tornado warning and when she looked out her 8th floor window in the maternity ward, the funnel cloud was roaring across town.
She shot a video of the tornado and posted it on-line, where it was picked up by the media.
She even took a few minutes between contractions Sunday night to describe the scene for us on the WGN News at 9 p.m.
Vancil’s fifth baby isn’t due until December 21, so doctors are trying to stop or slow her labor, which began Thursday.
She plans to name her unborn daughter Winter, because the due date is on the solstice, the first day of winter.
