A tornado ransacked the Diamond Illinois area leaving a 3-mile footprint of destruction and four people hospitalized.

Neighbors along Will Rd in Diamond huddled in their basements Sunday waiting for the storms to pass.  When it was over, blown out windows and scattered debris littered the area.

The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in the area, which is near the Grundy-Will County line.

Grundy county officials say about 100 homes and businesses were damaged between Coal City and Diamond.

Many are in the Diamond Estates community where officials are enforcing a curfew until 6 tomorrow morning.

Coal City District schools will be closed tomorrow.
