Former Cook County Board President Todd Stroger is ready to make his return to city politics.

The Chicago Sun Times reports, Stroger announced plans to run for Cook County Commissioner in front of a politics class at Roosevelt University this week.

Stroger lost his bid for reelection as Board President back in 2010. At that time, he was facing criticism over his policies and many of his hires.

Stroger wants to run for the seat left vacant by William Beavers. Beavers was convicted of failure to pay taxes on campaign money he used for personal expenses and gambling.

The Democratic Primary is set for March 2014.
