Most kids love going to the circus, but one lucky little boy, who is recovering from leukemia, actually had the circus come to him. A local charity and the Greatest Show on Earth teamed up to turn his room into the Greatest Room on Earth.

The leukemia and the medicine made 7-year-old Jon Stazel too sick to go to school from December until September. It was tough to even walk so Jon was stuck in his room in his Norwood Park home a lot.

Even with his recovery, counselors at his hospital knew Jon needed some cheering up.

And that’s where the Naperville based charity Special Spaces and the Ringling Bros Barnum and Bailey Circus stepped in to help out.

More than 40 volunteers worked all day to create the special room.  It includes a ring, just like you see at the three ring service, a mural dedicated to Jon’s favorite sport of basketball and a bunk bed to give him more room to play.

Jon has two years of treatment ahead of him. But thanks to this magical makeover, even a day in bed, will be something to smile about.

Jon will also be guest ringmaster at the circus on November 22nd.  His family and doctors will also be there.
