Church members gather one day after arson

A fire at a northwest side church did not prevent members from attending services Sunday.

The fire happened at the Outreach Community Church of Christ in the 43oo block of West Parker Avenue just after 3am Saturday.

Church members gathered in an alternate location of the church today to worship.

Evidence found at the church fire appears to confirm investigators’ suspicions of arson.

Federal investigators found multiple points of origin at church, including the balcony and sanctuary.

Accelerant detection canines also indicated the presence of flammable materials at several places around the church. .

The building was also subject to vandalism Thursday night when a brick was thrown through the glass front doors.
