Jury find woman guilty in slaying of Chicago officer

A Cook County jury tonight convicted a woman of the 2008 murder of Chicago police Officer Richard Francis but acquitted her of charges that she shot at other officers responding to the scene.

Attorneys for Robin Johnson, 50, had suggested the shooting was accidental, telling jurors that the officer’s gun went off as the two wrestled after the officer allegedly body-slammed her.

Francis, 60, a 27-year veteran officer, was shot with his own gun while investigating a seemingly routine assignment while on patrol.
