Soccer official struck twice by 17-year-old player during game

The Illinois High School Association is considering sanctions as it investigates the punching of a soccer referee by a student.

It happened during a regional playoff match at Chicago Academy.


The soccer official, Humberto Ramirez told the Tribune, he was surprised when a 17-year-old senior player from Prosser Career Academy struck him twice.

The player reportedly became irate when the Ramirez did not call a foul on an opponent.

The player was arrested, and charged as a juvenile.

His name has not been released.
