iPhone robber busted for North Side thefts

A 20-year old Logan Square man is in police custody after robbing two people of their iPhones in separate incidents on Tuesday night.

A  victim identified Semajay Hyles of the 1700 Block of North Washtenaw, as the man who pulled a gun on him and robbed him of his iPhone and wallet in the 1100 block of North Wood Street at 10:45 pm on Tuesday.  A second victim also identified Hyles of robbing him of his iPhone at 8:15 p.m. near Grand Avenue and Ada Street.

Police immediately located Hyles near Chicago Avenue and Pulaski Road using the “Find My iPhone” app, designed to track down lost or stolen iPhones.  He was carrying both iPhones and a .22 caliber handgun.

Hyles is being held at Cook County Jail on $350,000 bond.
