The head of the Better Government Association fires back at accusations from Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.

Madigan claims the group has a partisan agenda.

At the Union League Club on Wednesday, the B.G.A.’s Andy Shaw spoke to the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. He defended his work, and insists he’s not partisan.

“The B.G.A.’s been doing this for 90 years. We ruffle some feathers. But, it’s totally non-partisan. We have no political agenda. The only agenda is better government, and if Michael Madigan believes in that, he should join us, rather than making us out to be the enemy,” said Shaw.
Madigan hasn’t made any public comments about the spat so far on Wednesday.
