Charges upgraded in crash that killed couple in Glenview

Charges have been upgraded against a man involved in a head-on crash that killed a husband and wife in Glenview.

Daniel Shmelevich is now charged with first-degree murder and aggravated driving under the influence, in connection with the September 22 crash.

He had been charged with felony reckless homicide just after the accident.

Neither police nor prosecutors would explain why murder charges were filed against Shmelevich.

He is being held without bond.

    Good news regarding the charges against this moron. Innocent people always seem to pay more of a price when these drunks cause an accident…hopefully this one will come out of a prison a very old man!

    Why do the police need to explain murder charges? He used a huge deadly weapon and killed people. Sounds like murder to me….
