Car crashes into townhouse, causes fire in Lake County

Police are talking to a person of interest in a car crash and feiry explosion in Lake County.

The car hit a a two-story townhouse in Lake County causing a 2-alarm fire. It happened at 5:20 a.m. Friday at 520 N. Patriot in far north suburban Hainesville, near Round Lake.

The car exploded into flames after hitting a gas meter, causing the townhouse to catch fire on North Patriot Drive.

WGN’s Nancy Loo tells us the man police are questioning was under a nearby car during the fire.

Residents of the townhouse were able to get out safely.

    I live in this area having moved out this way from chicago about 16 years ago and I have never seen accidents as horrible as the accidents I witness out here, People act like there always late for something and have the worst driving skills I have ever seen, It has to be some of the worst drivers in illinois, Infrastructure does not match population for lake and mchenry counties and the people in these counties think they have a right to drive like morons and don't see it as privilige they think they were born with a steering wheel up their butts.
