20-year Demarius Reed was found shot and killed in his apartment complex Friday morning in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Police say Reed was shot multiple times and some of his personal items were missing, leading them to believe he was robbed.  No one is in custody.

His roommate found him in a hallway at the University Green apartments around 7:15am Friday.

Reed was a starter for Eastern Michigan and a former star at Simeon Career Academy.

His family says he loved football from the age of 7.  They say they’re devastated and this is something they would never expect.

Reed was a college junior, majoring in communication, media and theater arts.  He started six games this season for Eastern Michigan, a standout receiver with dreams of playing in the NFL.  University officials called him an influential leader and the life of the locker room.

Grief counselors have been meeting with his college teammates.  The Eastern Michigan Eagles will play Ohio University Saturday afternoon in Reed’s honor.
