Fire has forced a South Side elementary school to cancel classes for the day.

The fire started just before 7 a.m. today at Oglesby Elementary School, near 76th and Green.

Investigators say the flames broke out on the third flood and were contained to one classroom, but the building had significant water damage.

School staff members were inside the building at the time, but no students were there and no one was hurt.

The cause is under investigation.

Oglseby students were given the option to take buses to nearby Wentworth school for the day or go home.
