Police: Body found may be missing Lake Villa man

Lake County police have discovered a body in a wooded area less than a mile from where a missing Lake Villa man’s car was found.

They are awaiting official identification from the Lake County Coroner’s office.

Police say they have reason to believe the remains are that of 33-year-old Nick Steward based on personal items that were discovered on or near the body.

Steward was last seen Friday, September 20.

He told his boss, wife and parents that he was on his way home from Wood Dale when he disappeared.

His cell phone died and has not been turned on since.

Thursday, a police officer in Vernon Hills found Steward’s white Saturn Aura while checking out a report of an unrelated disturbance.

Police won’t say whether the car showed any evidence of foul play in Steward’s disappearance.
