Blackhawk Bickell, wife help save abandoned pit bull

Chicago Blackhawk Bryan Bickell and his wife have scored in their efforts to find help for an abandoned dog.

Bickell and his wife, Amanda, run a charity that raises awareness and understanding about pit bulls. The charity is called Chicago Loves Pits.

The Bickells had been trying to save Buddy, a young pit bull who was found recently on a South Side street.

On Thursday morning, not long after an the couple appeared on the WGN Morning News, a rescue shelter called New Leash on Life stepped forward to take in Buddy and try to find him a home.

The Bickell’s charity will pay for Buddy’s neutering and other shelter costs.
