Judge: Quinn has to pay lawmakers – with interest

A Cook County judge ruled that Governor Quinn had no legal right to cut off the paychecks of state lawmakers, to press his demand for a state pension reform bill.

So the legislators will get all their back pay for August and September, plus interest.

And in fact, they already have it.

State comptroller Judy Baar Topinka ordered the checks electronically deposited to the lawmakers’ accounts overnight.

Quinn insists he acted legally.

Quinn says he’ll continue to refuse his paychecks until a pension reform bill is on his desk.

All the lawmakers in Illinois should be ashamed of themselves. The only people that they are interested in are themselves. Illinois is in a really bad place now. The pension system has gotten so out of control that nobody knows what to do. Any judge that can't understand this problem is in someone's pocket. Thank god I no longer live in that state. Look out, this is going to be another problem like Detroit, but mark my words the politicians will make sure they get their money, but nobody else. Good Luck.

Quinn did the right thing because the lawmakers don't care about anything or anyone as long as they get paid regardless of what ever happens. Now they get paid with interest? This is ridiculous! I bet Judy Barr stayed for overtime to wire those paychecks too! I'll make sure to vote against everyone one of these people when the next elections roll around. Quinn came up with an innovative solution to the problem, which is more than I can say for all these lawmakers that claim their representing the people of Illinois! They represent themselves and only themselves! Quinn hasn't been accepting paychecks and I think the lawmakers should do the same, they owe it to the tax payers of Illinois.

Why is it that every stunt these jokers come up with cost taxpayers money?
The interest on the pay should come from Quinn, and the interest for the pensions should come from the senate and house paychecks!
