Alleged leaders of a Chicago street gang have been charged with murder and other violent crimes.
Officials made the announcement Thursday as part of a massive effort to crackdown on the city’s deadly gang violence.
The charges stem from a combined effort between the Chicago police department, the U.S Attorney’s office, the FBI and the IRS.
Four of the alleged “Hobos “street gang members are charged with fatally shooting five people between 2006 and 2009.
All nine are charged with racketeering conspiracy.
All of those charged are currently in either federal or state custody.
