Driver charged in death of 2-year-old girl

A man, accused of killing a two-year-old girl while driving drunk, appears in bond court today. Kellen Bledsoe is charged with DUI and reckless homicide.

According to police, Bledsoe was driving even though he’s never had a driver’s license. The say that he blew a stop sign Friday and Hit Ja’Mya Love near the intersection of 57th and Morgan.

She was on her way to daycare at 7:00am, walking with her great grandmother, Pamela Thompson. Thompson says she was holding Ja’Mya’s hand and pushing her 1 year old brother in a stroller, when she says the car seemed to come out of nowhere.

“She opened her eyes and then she closed her eyes and that was it.  I knew she was already gone but I just kept hope. I just kept hope,” Thompson said.
After hitting Jamya, police the 27 year old driver kept going, hitting construction horses and parked cars.  They say, the driver then took off running, but police spotted him and took him into custody.
