A Starbucks unlike any other in Chicago will soon take shape in Edgewater.

The new drive-thru coffee shop will be built at the corner of Broadway and Devon out of recycled shipping containers stacked on top of each other.

Crews began tearing down an old hot dog stand at the corner on Friday.

48th ward Alderman Harry Osterman says the coffee shop is part of a plan to revitalize the area.

“Broadway at Devon is kind of the entrance to the Edgewater community and this Starbucks is going to be an asset down there,” Alderman Osterman said.

A ribbon cutting on the site is set for later this month.
