Pregnant women — go ahead and have a drink — every day if you want! That’s the controversial new words of wisdom regarding alcohol and pregnancy.

But they don’t come from an obstetrician, they come from a well-reputed economist who says just look at the statistics and you’ll see the impacts of food and alcohol on a growing fetus.

University of Chicago’s Emily Oster shared the research that she says she applied to her own pregnancy and penned in a new book called “Expecting Better: Why the conventional wisdom is wrong and what you really need to know.”

In the book she warns against binge drinking during pregnancy, but says the research and even doctors say one drink a day is fine.
