Record-breaking September heat is set to take over the area today.

Temperatures are expected to be so high, some schools are already preparing to close early.

A second set of big weather changes looms later this week as Canadian high pressure brings temps which tumble to more typical autumnal levels in the 70s (and even some upper 60s).

As a parent of children that go to that school I'm happy they made the decision to close today. One of my kids wasn't feeling very good after yesterday's heat and today would've only been much worse. The school is only very partially air conditioned so I appreciate the fact that I don't have to worry about my kids getting heat illness today thank you very much!
