Chicago’s three public transit agencies may merge their planning departments.

The Regional Transportation Authority is proposing the merger of Metra, Pace and the CTA, to improve inter-agency communication, standardize fares and save the agencies money.

The proposal comes as Governor Quinn’s new transit task force prepares to hold its first meeting, to explore ways to streamline the Chicago area’s mass transit systems.
