Chicago’s inspector general will keep his job, at least for another year.

The Sun-Times reports, Joe Ferguson’s often-stormy relationship with Mayor Emanuel won’t stop the mayor from reappointing him to another four-year term.

Ferguson has angered Emanuel by trying to audit the city’s books to force the mayor to back up his claims of saving the city money.

But Emanuel says he wants Ferguson to stay on, through next summer, to finish his work bringing the city into compliance with the Shakman anti-patronage decree.
