There’s a boxing program that is a force for good in Chicago’s troubled Englewood community.

The organization’s founder is Sally Hazelgrover. She moved with her three kids to Englewood four years ago and formed the Crushers Club.

“I formed my organization very grassroots,” she said.  “We were boxing in vacant lots we were in an abandoned church for awhile we’d go to other gyms but I was always constrained by not having my own site.”

This past march the organization expanded and found a home at 64th and Loomis.   Sally now mentors 90 young men.

Each member receives professional counseling, peer mentoring, boxing training and most importantly. love and support.
