A man was shot by police in Skokie, after officers say he attacked them with a knife.

The man, in his 50’s, was originally wanted for a battery incident in Evanston.

Evanston police contacted Skokie officers after the suspect got on a CTA bus.

Authorities said the suspect ended up on Oakton street, where he confronted a business owner outside his store.

The business owner ran inside and locked the door to his store, police said.

The suspect attempted to kick in the front door until a Skokie officer arrived.

Police tried to arrest the man and used a baton and pepper spray, with no effect.

The suspect then reportedly lunged at officers with a knife, and was shot once in the leg.

Charges are pending.
