The Purple Hotel in Lincolnwood will soon be only rubble.

Wrecking crews are set to demolish the long-vacant structure at the corner of Lincoln and Touhy today.

The hotel, with is unique purple bricks, was built in the early 60’s.

The architect is expected to attend its demolition.

The hotel was once a destination for celebrity guests but in recent years it fell into disrepair.

Health violations forced the village to shut it down in 2007.

Some of the purple bricks will be saved and incorporated into the new development, which will include retail offices, restaurants and a new hotel.
