Break in the heat before the weekend

Northeast winds arrive Wednesday lowering temperatures for several days before heat resurges Friday and into the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend. Scattered thunderstorms may pop from time to time given the warm, humid mass predicted to hold here.

Another significant cool-down follows for Labor Day, when temperatures are to fall back to the mid to upper 70s—and even lower on Chicago’s lakefront.
