Rabid bat in Batavia

A rabid bat has been found in the backyard of a home in west suburban Batavia, according to county health officials.

The Kane County Health Department says the bat has tested positive for rabies, but no humans have been exposed to the disease.

They remind residents to “avoid contact with wild animals that are acting unusual” and to maintain rabies vaccinations for all pets.
