With Thursday serving as a day off, Chicago  Cubs manager Dale Sveum gave shortstop Starlin Castro and second baseman Darwin Barney a day off Wednesday, as well as rookie center fielder Junior Lake as the Cubs tried to avoid a three-game sweep by Cincinnati and off-speed maven Bronson Arroyo.

But the Cubs were held to two hits and lost 5-0 to complete a three-game Reds sweep.

Arroyo threw seven innings of two-hit ball in improving to 11-9. Arroyo struck out seven and walked none.
