A 23-year-old man from Glendale Heights appears in bond court this morning to face charges of trying to have members of his own family killed.

Matthew Olszewski was charged Thursday afternoon with trying to hire someone to kill his aunt, uncle and an elderly resident of their home.

DuPage County Sheriff’s detectives worked with the Glendale Heights police and the State’s Attorney’s office after receiving a tip that Olszewski was interested in hiring a hitman.

Olszewski arranged a meeting with the hitman, who was actually an undercover officer.

He reportedly intended to pay for the murders with cash he stole in burglaries.

Olszewski was already in custody for theft and weapons charges.
