Man, 90, dies after car plunges into Arlington Heights pond

A elderly man has died after his car crashed into a pond in Arlington Heights.

Divers pulled the 90-year-old man from his car that fell into a pond.

Police tell us the car crashed into an electrical box starting a small fire before plunging into the water around 7 a.m. today.

This is near an apartment building on Courtland Drive in Arlington Heights just west of Hersey High School.

Officials pulled the man from the car, and administered CPR before taking that person to the hospital.

Divers are searching to see if there was anyone else in the vehicle.

    I live where this happened. Two men jumped into the water attempting to get the driver out before the police arrived and the car submerged. Though they weren’t successful, I consider their efforts heroic. I took a pic of one of them. Maybe you can help ID him?

    why was he still driving? should be looked into, 90!

    Sorry, if you think this is mean, but i was hit by a 84 year man who was doing a u-turn. and had his reaction time not been slow, i dont think i would have wrote this. If I am driving at that age take my keys if I am unable to drive safely and at speed limits.
