AA flight to Chicago makes emergency landing in Ireland

A Chicago-bound plane forced to make an emergency landing in ireland Friday morning.

A spokesperson for American Airlines said Flight 55 was on its way from Manchester, England when it was diverted to Shannon Airport in Ireland due to a mechanical issue.

There were 199 passengers and a crew of 12 on board. It was a Boeing 767 plane.

No one was injured.

A maintenance team is checking the aircraft.

It is scheduled to re-depart at 3:15 p.m. Chicago time.
