The City of Chicago has finalized a contract to install hundreds of speed cameras near city schools and parks.

Mayor Emanuel says the new five-year agreement with “American Traffic Solutions” will discourage speeders, and raise millions of dollars in ticket revenue from those who refuse to slow down.

But the contract will be rolled out more slowly than originally planned.

As few as 50 of the new cameras will be put up in the first year.

If they want to create jobs and revenue, hire more police to sit at intersections. Hell, at my intersection, which is in the middle of a neighborhood, they could make a fortune off of stop sign runners and speeders. These cameras are a joke. They call it definitive and unchallengeable, but they can't prove who is in the car. So the owner is responsible regardless of who is driving.
