Former Bear Chris Zorich sentenced to probation in tax case

Former Bear Chris Zorich, who pleaded guilty in March to misdemeanor charges of not filing federal income tax returns, was sentenced Friday to three years of probation.

Zorich, 44, faced up to four years in prison.

Zorich did not file tax returns from 2006 through 2009, during which time he had a gross income of more than $1 million in deferred compensation from the Bears and other sources.

Zorich played with the Bears from 1991 through 1996.
